Since her modelling debut during Lakme Fashion Week Anushka did several campaigns for brands like n she has done campaigns for their Silk & Shine Whisper Nathella Jewelry as well as Fiat Palio etc. Anushka joined an acting class and started auditioning for films alongside her modeling career. Anushka made her debut acting in the year the year 2008 on Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, opposite Shah Rukh Khan. To prepare for the test on screen, she stayed up all day. Later, she was signed to three films by Yash Raj Films. She played a younger wedding bride to a middle-aged actor (Shah Rukh Khan) in the movie. The film was hit on the box office and was the second-highest-grossing movie of 2008. Anushka appeared alongside Shahid Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor, Vir Das as well as Meiyang Chang in the 2010 movie "Badmash Company". The film received mixed reviews. Anushka appeared alongside Ranveer in the film "Band Baaja Baaraat', in which she portrayed the role of a Punjabi middle class girl who launched her own venture. It received positive reviews. The contract of Anushka's for three films with Yash Raj Films was completed with Band Baaja Baaraat.
